Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. And especially this year I am just so excited for sweater weather, pumpkin everything and the beginning of the holiday season. Fall fashion is another another thing I love about this time of the year- from cozy sweaters and cardigans, to comfy leggings and of course boots and booties. Fall Wardrobe Essentials
Today I am sharing just a few fall wardrobe essentials. Chances are you may already own most of what you need for the season (same here) but I love to adding just few new pieces to refresh my style and create entire new looks by mixing old with the new. And stay tuned I plan on creating a fall capsule wardrobe post next week.
Oversized Sweater & Faux Leather Leggings
Every season there is just that one (ok maybe 2 ) Free People sweater that quickly becomes my go to “throw and go” kind of sweater of the season. I got this oversized pullover few weeks back, I have been wearing it several times a week. It’s perfectly oversized, comfy and available in six other color options. Match made in heaven for leggings! I am in XS.
Faux Leather Leggings
I find myself wearing the Commando faux leather leggings more and more. I also love the Spanx ones. Spanx feel more like an athletic legging with a faux leather look, the Commando pair are more dressier and definitely look more like leather pant. They fit tts, I am wearing size small. Keep in mind I recommend sticking with your true size in both pairs. The Commando pair – you may have to shimmy yourself into them at first time you wear it, but trust me they will fit and look great. Same goes for Spanx. They are meant to fit snug and give you that “hugged” feeling. They are super high waisted, so if you size up the waist band may start rolling down with wear. What do you think of these new Uggs? I love that they are waterproof! Uggs are like sweatpants for your feet, right? They’re super comfy and a great on-the-go shoe. If you are in between sizes, I recommend sizing up.

Fall Wardrobe Essentials – Sweater Dress
If you’re looking for a comfortable sweater dress, I highly recommend this one. It ships free with free returns. The length is great and I love the balloon sleeve detailing. The fabric is not super thick and it’s really stretchy. I’m wearing size small and it fits tts. Because of the simplicity of the dress, these boots really make the outfit. I typically don’t go for trendy footwear, but I love the texture of these. I did size up by half size and they’re very comfortable on. There is also another pair of boots (almost identical) and currently marked down 30% available here.

Fall Wardrobe Essentials – Cardigan & Jeans
Everyone’s favorite cardigan is back in stock! I love the length and shawl collar, and now it’s available in 6 additional colors. I’m wearing xs. If you’re a long time reader, you know how much I love this lace trim cami. I’ve had it for years now, the quality is so good and I also own it in black. It’s super easy to maintain, just throw it in the washer/dryer and doesn’t wrinkle easy. I’m wearing xs.
These jeans by Wit&Wisdom have the magical “ab-solution” waistline which is an elastic built in waistband. This makes them the most comfortable jeans and the fit is so flattering.
Fall Wardrobe Essentials – Splurgy Worthy Bag
Do you wear big or small handbags? I have to say for the last decade I have been wearing wearing totes. The bigger, the better! Of course it was more of a “family” bag – from diapers, snacks, change of clothes to my own personal belongings haha. But now that my kids are finally older, and I don’t need to carry everything for them (you know… I am “just in case” kind of mom), I am switching back to smaller purses.
I’m so excited about this bag! I have been a fan of Tory Burch bags for years now and I fell in love with the taupe color of this one. It’s definitely a splurge item, but the color and design are timeless, so I know I will be wearing it for years to come.

Fall Wardrobe Essentials – Boots and Booties
These booties are so comfortable! I sized up by half size. Even though the toe is pointy, they are not narrow. The elastic on both sides of the boot make them very easy to put on and take off.

This Free People puffer jacket is warm and cozy. It feels like you’re wrapped in a sleeping back. Heads up, it does run pretty big. For reference I am wearing XS.
