I am so in love with over the knee boots or OTKs as most call them. But to be honest I was hesitant to purchase my first pair. (currently on sale 30% off). Well, my style is pretty laid back and casual. I do not want to look like the Pretty Woman hehe… I actually started a Pinerest board for OTK style ideas. And I came up with just few simple rules on how not to look like a streetwalker in OTKs. (these rules only apply to me, because in fashion, as you all know anything goes… if you’re feeling it, rock it girlfriend)
Wear Oversized Tops
Whether you’re going for a button down or a sweater, go for a flowy, oversized style. All the attention will be on your legs already.
Only Reveal One Area of Your Body
What I mean by that, is if you’re going out in a skirt or shorts and OTKs, but still trying to keep it casual, stay clear of cleavege bearing tops, or belly shirts. I attended an event during the NYFW, and opted for this very pair of over the knee boots, but I chose to go with a mock neck dress. Do you see where I am going with this?
Add Layers
Layering an outfit can be so fun, and gives you an opportunity to show off more of your fabulous wardrobe. I like to wear blouses, with oversized long cardigans (this one is my fav) , and when temperatures drop even more, I will add a coat. All this makes your look more classic & chic, and less provocative. Other great layering ideas for the fall: scarves, ponchos and vests.
Stick With Neural Colors
This one is only half true I guess. I mean I like to avoid hot pinks, neon anything. I tend to choose grey, beige, white and black tones for the winter. But if loud colors are your go to, do not let me change your mind haha
Heel & Height
If you’re still on the fence about the OTKs, choose the ones with the lowest heel/ flat or wedge. They are not only super comfortable, but also can be very casual. If you’re tempted by getting the high heels, go for the chunky heel.
Thank you so much for reading. If you were hesitant about trying out this trend, I hope you found these tips useful. If you’re an OTK aficionado, please share some of your styling tips!

Anna

Cozy Sweater Vest & Plaid Button Down with Banana Republic (and a GIVEAWAY) – Blushing Rose Style Blog

[…] As my lifestyle changed in the last year, I am more laid back and casual with my everyday style. Anyways, I was on a mission to find a plaid shirt for the fall. And when I found this one, I was thrilled. I love the soft pink and grey tones, and the ruffle detail on the cuff is just adorable. I wore it several times already, once with a sweater vest (currently on sale) and once with a v-neck sweater. The plaid button down looks great with jeans (these are my true blue favorite everyday jeans!) and booties, or even leggins (high waisted and super slimming!) and OTK boots (40% off). Need tips on how to style over the knee boots? See this post here. […]
